JTAF 6 PLANS POSTPONED – JTAF 5 WILL PROCEED AS SCHEDULED
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA (October 17, 2007) – Project 760 Productions, the organizers for JTAF (formerly JapanTown Anime Faire), announces that plans for JTAF 6 will be postponed until further notice. Organizers will continue to plan events in the San Francisco bay area in order to remain in touch with the anime community.
“The decision to postpone JTAF 6 comes at a time when anime conventions around the country are re-inventing themselves in order to attract more visitors in an era of internet-downloadable videos and online shoppers, replacing anime video rooms and dealers halls,” says Ray Nagar, JTAF’s Chief Director. “During that downtime, we plan to take a long-overdue hiatus for JTAF and collaborate with local organizations to plan activities for anime, manga and cosplay fans in JTAF’s absence. We would like to thank all of the companies and organizations that have supported us over the past five years and look forward to working with all of them again in the future.”
The hiatus plan will not affect the plans for JTAF 5, set to take place on November 10-11, 2007 at San Francisco’s Fort Mason Center. “We encourage attendees to pre-register and attend JTAF 5 as if it were business as usual,” says Nagar. “We don’t plan to go quietly without seeing all of our friends and supporters.”
JTAF 5 events will feature musical guests Stephanie Yanez, akai SKY, Quarter Circle Jab, The Shogunate and Eloquence, with additional performances by AnimeMyu and appearances by convention guests of honor at large, convention photographer Eurobeat King and web comic artist Alexander Shen. Additional event information can be located at the JTAF website at http://www.project760.net/jtaf .
